Responsibilities of the Global Oligopoly - Economics
76Triple bottom line is the new buzz word in corporate America. It is an attempt to showcase "sustainability", corporate initiatives taken beyond the green standards, initiatives to help the community. These new standards of excellence are a major step in the right direction. Yet we have not clearly detailed who MUST be included in these standards. It is purely optional. And keeping it optional is what the free market system is all all about. The free market system is also about knowledge. We need knowledge to make things better. The triple bottom line is a perfect example of that knowledge makes us - all of us better - better citizens, better communities, a better world.
How can we determine who MUST be included in this new level of corporate responsibility? Only monopolies, only oligopolies - companies of power and magnitude that are held by public stock? Must certainly yes.
The Sarbones-Oxley act in the US in 2002 showcased the moral decay from just a few corrupt companies and how they "legally stole" billions of dollars. Lying, I am sorry is the same as stealing.
Not being transparent, hiding transactions, hiding knowledge, trading with inside knowledge is the same as stealing. A lie is a lie, a thief is a thief - it is white and black.
In the US, the majority of our food supply is held not by publicly traded companies, it is held by private ownership often old family money.
The food supply in the dark ages is what caused the fall of Rome.
One of the critical industries the United States and all world powers must address is the transparency of the chemicals that put in our food.
The USDA and the EPA are splintered and ineffectual. The accountability rests in the free market place. Wal-Mart can make a different. Remember Wal-Mart is not just an oligopoly here in the US, they are a global player with power great than many countries.

The new world order is changing very rapidly. Government cannot make the changes IF the citizens don't understand and support and DEMAND the changes.
The power of change is in the consumer's hands.
The power of change is in the pen.
Knowledge on the Internet is critical to learning our personal and corporate responsibilities. None of us are exempt.
Each of us has a voice. Each of us has a vote.
The noise on the Internet needs to be heightened to real sustainability where we actually help people. Where we forever change the paradigm of health to one of true health with first class foods and exercise.
A pill is not the answer, a surgery is not always the answer. Research is not always beneficial to our society, research that helps the individual irrespective of the profit motive is the highest and best use of our scientific minds and resources.
We live in a world controlled by a very few. We live in a world where our voices can be heard. We must speak up for what is best for the individual not just the profiteers.
The obligations of the corporate giants are starting to recognize their true responsibility for governance.
We as citizens of the world must echo the need for this altruistic corporate governance.

The world is controlled by so very few due to the opening of the flood gates of competition. Remember that talk you had with your parents when you said you wanted to become a pro-athelete, a famous singer, or a famous author? Your parents would then sit you down and tell you that very few people make it to such status, so you should get a degree and get a "comfortable job." Today, that "comfortable job" functions much competitively like pro sports. It's a winner take all society, average people don't even get jobs or any money.

We live in a world controlled by very few. That is most certainly the truth.
