Medical Billing Accounting Changes Are Needed

Medical billing needs transformation.

Accountants need t address severe lack of accountability.

Government intervention should not be the leader.

Accounting firms and top consultants such as Accenture could lead the way, saving valuable dollars for our governments.

Consumer needs to know the price.  Transparency is talked about all the time and yet for medical, there is no transparency.

Who would buy a house, a car, a dress without first knowing the price?

Yes for medical billing consumer may not see the full price for over 60 days or more!

Have you reviewed your medical statement closely?  Mine showed a cash posting months after I gave them the cash.

What small business owner would allow their accountant to post cash on a day that it was not received?  What small business owner would allow cash to be posted months later?

Where are the bright accountants.

Yes, you have pending accounts.  Yes, you have difficulty posting when you don't know the price from the insurance company but cash is cash.  Cash is king and a cash posting should always occur on the date that it was made - not months later.

Responsibility for the medical problems in the United States must be assumed by all involved.  It is not just the government who can save us - we can save ourselves.

If you receive a bill months later, call and state your complaint.

If your cash is posted late, call and state your complaint.

Maybe the medical billing firms and accountants will figure this is simply not common sense.

Let's return price transparency, clear accounting first to our medical industry before we do any governmental health care reforms.

There are plenty of operational items we can address - even just as consumers.
